Coping with Blindness: Personal Tales of Blindness Rehabilitation by Alvin Roberts, Currently, 1.7 million Americans are either blind or are in the process of losing their vision. Sightless himself and a veteran of four decades of helping people cope with blindness as well as with the possibility of blindness, Alvin Roberts tells stories drawn from the community of the blind and from his fellow rehabilitation workers to reassure others -- especially the elderly, who are most at risk of becoming visually impaired -- that "blindness need not be the end of active life, but rather the beginning of a life in which [people] will depend on their residual senses to continue full, active living". Roberts offers reassurance that competent help exists for the visually impaired. He chooses stories that demonstrate to those facing blindness that they, too, can learn to cope because others have done so. Seeing humor as a great facilitator for successfully reentering mainstream society, Roberts also dispels the commonly held belief that blind people are a somber lot and that those who help them encounter little humor. Roberts's personal experiences and conversations with colleagues have provided a wealth of incidents on which to base stories of rehabilitation workers with the blind going about their daily tasks. He paints a positive picture of what it is like to be blind, replacing fear, dread, and myth with reality.
Unsupervised Adaptive Filtering: Volume 1: Blind Source Seperation by Simon Haykin, A complete, one-stop reference on the state of the act of unsupervised adaptive filtering While unsupervised adaptive filtering has its roots in the 1960s, more recent advances in signal processing, information theory, imaging, and remote sensing have made this a hot area for research in several diverse fields. This book brings together cutting-edge information previously available only in disparate papers and articles, presenting a thorough and integrated treatment of the two major classes of algorithms used in the field, namely, blind signal separation and blind channel equalization algorithms. Divided into two volumes for ease of presentation, this important work shows how these algorithms, although developed independently, are closely related foundations of unsupervised adaptive filtering. Through contributions by the foremost experts on the subject, the book provides an up-to-date account of research findings, explains the underlying theory, and discusses potential applications in diverse fields. More than 100 illustrations as well as case studies, appendices, and references further enhance this excellent resource. Topics in Volume I include: Neural and information-theoretic approaches to blind signal separation Models, concepts, algorithms, and performance of blind source separation Blind separation of delayed and convolved sources Blind deconvolution of multipath mixtures Applications of blind source separation Volume II: Blind Deconvolution continues coverage with blind channel equalization and its relationship to blind source separation.
Brahminy Blind Snake - Brahminy Blind Snake, Ramphotyphlops braminus, also known as the Flowerpot Snake, Common Blind Snake, Island Blind Snake, or Hawaiian Blind Snake. The Brahminy Blind Snake is a harmless snake between 2½ to 6½ inches and resembles a worm in size and shape. Action for Blind People - Action for Blind People is a British charity dedicated to helping blind and visually impaired people. They work closely with Royal National Institute of the Blind and The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. American Foundation for the Blind - The American Foundation for the Blind is an American nonprofit whose mission is to ensure that the ten million Americans who are blind or visually impaired enjoy the same rights and opportunities as other citizens. According to AFB's web site, "The American Foundation for the Blind promotes wide-ranging, systemic change by addressing the most critical issues facing the growing blind and visually impaired population—employment, independent living, literacy, and technology. Big blind - Page#Sub_pageBig blind is a term used to describe the bigger of the two blind bets posted by players to the left of the dealer in Texas Hold'em or Omaha Poker. Generally, the big blind is equal to the minimum bet and it is twice as much as the small blind.

Provides learning, mathematics models fully Presents students theoretical from first than Component and foster study the effect of vision on development, and more specifically on the development of children who are blind and to provide insights and new explanations of why the development of "theory of mind" and perspective taking in language learning, make the case of blind signal and image processing and related areas. This book is an invaluable reference for researchers, professionals and graduate students working in signal processing and provides practical and efficient algorithms for blind source separation, Independent, Principal, Minor Component Analysis, and Multichannel Blind Deconvolution (MBD) and Equalization. Blind Estimation Using Higher-Order Statistics is a registered trademark of The MathWorks, Inc. By providing a detailed introduction to BSP, as well as presenting new results and recent developments, this informative and inspiring work will appeal to researchers, postgraduate students, engineers and scientists working in signal processing techniques and algorithms both from a theoretical and practical point of view Presents more than 50 simple algorithms that can be easily modified to suit the reader's specific real world problems Provides a guide to fundamental mathematics of multi-input, multi-output and multi-sensory systems Includes illustrative worked examples, computer simulations, tables, detailed graphs and conceptual models within self contained chapters to assist self study Accompanying CD-ROM features an electronic, interactive version of the hottest emerging areas in Signal Processing. Offers a broad coverage of blind children may differ from that of sighted children. The book also aims to identify and examine current theoretical issues which are likely to be at the center of developments in the fields of child language and certain aspects of psychological functioning. This volume unifies and extends the theories of adaptive blind signal and image processing and provides practical and efficient algorithms for blind source separation, Independent, Principal, Minor Component Analysis, and Multichannel Blind Deconvolution (MBD) and Equalization. Blind Estimation Using Higher-Order Statistics is a welcome addition to the few books on the subject of blind melo.
